A Generalized Non-Linear Composite Fading Model

چکیده
This work is devoted to the formulation and derivation of the α−κ−μ/gamma distribution which corresponds to a physical fading model. The proposed distribution is composite and is constituted by the α−κ−μ non-linear generalized multipath model and the gamma shadowing model. It also constitute the basis for deriving the α−κ−μ Extreme/gamma model which accounts for non-linear severe multipath and shadowing effects and also includes the more widely known α−μ and κ−μ models which includes as special cases the Rice, Weibull, Nakagami-m and Rayleigh distributions. The derived models provide accurate characterisation of the simultaneous occurrence of multipath fading and shadowing effects. This is achieved thanks to the remarkable flexibility of their named parameters which have been shown to render them capable of providing good fittings to experimental data associated with realistic communication scenarios. This is also evident by the fact that they include as special cases the widely known composite fading models such as the recently reported κ−μ/gamma model and the novel α−μ/gamma model. Novel analytic expressions are derived for the corresponding probability density function of these distributions which are expressed in a convenient algebraic form and can be efficiently utilized in the derivation of numerous vital measures in investigations related to the analytic performance evaluation of digital communications over composite multipath/shadowing fading channels.

Performance evaluation of energy detector over generalized non-linear and shadowed composite fading channels using a Mixture Gamma Distribution
The performance of energy detection (ED) for independent and identically distribution (i.i.d.) signal models is analyzed over generalized composite non-linear line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-ofsight (NLOS) shadowed fading scenarios. The novel expressions for ακ-μ/Gamma and α-η-μ/Gamma fading channels have been derived to approximate by using the mixture gamma (MG) distribution under low instan...
متن کاملOn the Ergodic Capacity of Underlay Cognitive Dual-Hop AF Relayed Systems Under Non-Identical Generalized-K Fading Channels
The ergodic capacity of underlay cognitive (secondary) dual-hop relaying systems is analytically investigated. Specifically, the amplify-and-forward transmission protocol is considered, while the received signals undergo multipath fading and shadowing with non-identical statistics. To efficiently describe this composite type of fading, the well-known generalized-K fading model is used. New anal...
متن کاملExtended Generalized-K (EGK): A New Simple and General Model for Composite Fading Channels
In this paper, we introduce a generalized composite fading distribution (termed extended generalizedK (EGK)) to model the envelope and the power of the received signal in millimeter wave (60 GHz or above) and free-space optical channels. We obtain the first and the second-order statistics of the received signal envelope characterized by the EGK composite fading distribution. In particular, expr...
متن کاملEnergy Detection of Unknown Signals over Composite multipath/shadowing Fading Channels
In this paper, the performance analysis of an energy detector is exploited over composite multipath/shadowing fading channels, which is modeled by Rayleigh-lognormal (RL) distribution. Based on an approximate channel model which was recently proposed by the author, the RL envelope probability density function (pdf) is approximated by a finite sum of weighted Rayleigh pdfs. Relying on this inter...
متن کاملOn the $\kappa$-$\mu$/Gamma Generalized Multipath/ Shadowing Fading Distribution
This work is devoted to the formulation and derivation of the κ − μ/gamma distribution which corresponds to A physical fading model. This distribution is composite and is based on the well known κ − μ generalized multipath model and the gamma shadowing model. A special case of the derived model constitutes the κ − μ Extreme/gamma model which accounts for severe multipath and shadowing effects. ...
